I built the board that saved my career.
I was a football player. Recurring ankle injuries nearly ended it. RawBalance is what I built to get back, and it is the reason I am still in the game.
It started with an ankle injury on the football pitch. But the truth is, it was never just one. Throughout my career the ankle problems kept coming back, again and again, until it became a pattern. And over time it started affecting me mentally just as much as physically.
Doing everything rightI was doing everything I was told. Training the big muscles, focusing on strength, following the surface-level rehab my physio recommended. But no matter what I did, the ankle issues kept returning. I was doing everything right, and something was still missing. I had never actually addressed the root cause.
Two yearsAfter my most serious injury, my doctor told me it could take up to two years before I would compete at 100% again. As an athlete, two years is not recovery time. It feels like your whole career disappearing.
The injury was never only physical. The hardest part was losing trust in my own ankle. You can come back stronger on paper and still hesitate every time you sprint, cut, land or change direction.
That hesitation is the real cost of injury. You think about the ankle constantly. You protect it. You stop moving freely. I realised strength was never going to fix that on its own. Coming back, an athlete needs far more than a bigger muscle:
So I went deep into balance, proprioception, coordination, and how the brain reconnects with the body after injury. And one thing became obvious. Sport does not move in one direction. Football, surfing, fighting, tennis, skating, they all demand that the body reacts, adjusts and stabilises in every direction. Most balance boards are too predictable. They tilt side to side. I wanted something that challenged the body in a full 360°, because real sport is 360°.
So I built it. A board that moves freely on a ball, forcing the feet, ankles, hips and core to make constant micro adjustments. Not standing still. Control under movement.
I trained on it every single day, and it became the core of how I rebuilt myself, and my confidence. Four months later, I was back on the pitch.
Train the control most workouts miss.
Not just strength. Body awareness, reaction, stability and confidence from the ground up. We refined RawBalance with over 100 athletes to get the challenge right.
